The Auto play option in Windows XP, Vista,7 And Window 8 appears whenever a CD/DVD is inserted or an external device is plugged in via the USB port. Get rid of Auto play. Let know here.
The Auto play feature might be quite helpful but at times it may even get annoying, especially when it affects your normal work or if you insert optical discs very often. If you feel that you no longer require the auto play function, you can disable it.

Disable Auto play :
- To disable auto play for all devices, go to Start and then click on Control Panel.
- Now select the View by option as Category (in the top right side).
- When you choose Category, 8 options are present. You have to select Hardware and Sound option.
- Under the Hardware and Sound option, click on the Play CDs or other media automatically link.
- To disable certain devices and to specify the media type click the drop-down list (next to the media type or device you want to disable) and select an option as required.
- Once done, click on the Save button.
